Same as Caroline. I am an IT guy so I went along for the ride. They told me they could fix my PC (which is new and clean) for $90. I called him on it and told him he was scamming people who don't know better. I told him I was filing a complaint with the BBB, police and his company. He asked me not to as he might lose his job. I said that was not my problem since he is participating in a scam. He then threatened me by saying he would come to my house and steal my computer. Hilarious. If you are in Ontario, please call the OPP and report the number. They have this company on file.Jars Services / Jars Support201-338-6180

I'm in Toronto and just got the call. I managed to get their number (201 338 6180) and company name, Jars Support. They said they were calling from "Waterloo, Canada." When I told them that I knew that 201 isn't the area code for Waterloo, they told me I was wasting THEIR time! Total scam.

Exactly like all the other people, they told me that they were calling from microsoft and that a dangerous virus had got into my computer. That if I was in my PC, as a matter of fact I was, but i smelled that something was not correct and fishy and asked them to give me a phone were to call later as i was going out. They said that they were going to call me back. i will know now how to respond. But what intrigues me is, what are authorities doing to stop someone like this organization, because by the noise i heard, it was almost like a call center. So, were do you have to go, denounce or make them aware of this scam.If someone does not stop them, they are going to get someone that is probably old, lonely and not computer literate and deprive him of his saving, his credit card, in one word steal his identity and use for their benefit.i would like to see if someone that is computer savy, catching this guys and putting them behind bars.

SCAM!!!! Caller identified themselves as Richard Vincent from some company in Utah (obviously not, as this is a NJ #). Tried to tell my mother that she had a virus on her PC and if she would turn her computer on, they will remotely access it and get rid of the virus for her. She replied with "We don't use Windows, we have a Mac." They replied with "We have someone here who deals with Macs." Luckily, my mother did not fall for this and told them that she didn't know how to work the computer and that her daughter deals with that stuff. They have called twice already and I'm sure they will call again... hopefully I will be the one to answer the next time. The scary thing was that they knew my mom's name (first and last). DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!!

they told me i had viruses in my computer and wanted my credit card number
(201) 338-6180
This is definitely a scam...DO NOT do what they ask! Report them to Better Business and any cyber crime contacts you have!I asked where they were from. The said London, UK... I questioned the Jersey Area code. They hung up. My guess is that they are also phishing for VoIP connections too. They reported being a service provider for Mircosoft. I told them I used UNIX. Strike 2!I called Microsoft and they told me that I wouldn't ever recieve a phone call regarding issues.

I have just received this suspicious call from the same number and was also told I had viruses on my computer and that I should immediately drop my supper and go to the computer. I didn't and have been trying to contact my Service Provider but the lines are busy. Sounds like a scam to me.

Same scenario as previously reported. Very strong East Indian accent. Barely audible at times. Had great difficulty understanding most of what he was trying to say. Had to have him repeat himself many times. The only real information I got from him was the phone number to call back for verification. After investigating further, I found the phone number belonged to an address in Dumont, NJ, it is a land-line phone and was registered May 10/99. Could not narrow it down any more than that. Needless to say, I did not call this number...it is definitely a scam!

Indian voice this "Computer Maintaince Services" we have been getting messages that your windows computer is sending messages that it has been infected by viruses. If I would go to my computer he would prove to me that I had been infected by viruses. Who are you and what is your address says I. "Computer Maintaince Services" St. James Street London 1 201 338 6180 I typed the number into Google in another computer as I continued to talk to him. Many Google hits all bad.I have been a computer professional for 40 years this could be fun.I then asked him for his proof. What he did was walk me though to a system event viewer file which had routine system events logged. He then tried to convince me that each of these events were a major problem that must be dealt with now and I needed to follow his instructions exactly. He said I had to do this and he then brought his "supervisor" in to convince me that seriously bad things were happening and I must follow their instructions. This is a scam.p.

Caller ID showed 91618; but caller gave me 1-201-338-6180 to call back. Said this was service provider of windows operating system and they were receiving reports of virus on my computer. He had me look at the computer management event viewer error log and said I should count the warnings and errors, said this indicated 30-40 viruses and that they were multiplying. He wanted me to go to www.support.me, at which point I stopped him and said I had antivirus on my pc and was going to check further myself. I asked for a number to reach him and he gave me the above call back number, saying it was their "toll free" help number and that his name was Andy.Sounds like a SCAM to me...
