I too today received 2 robo=telephone calls from this 202-374-9589 "IRS" # stating this this is my final notice for a lawsuit... both messages on my answering machine.

I work in an office where 8 phone lines all come in to me at my desk. I got a phone call from this number twice in one day on separate phone lines. It was a recording saying that the IRS is filing a law suit against me and that I need to call this number. This is a scam.

This call went directly to my answering machine, I didn't hear my phone ring. I was also left the same robotic message saying, "they are the IRS filing suit against you". I checked my call log and it showed Wireless Caller (202) 374-9589, no IRS name listed, obviously not a legit call.

I called the number and some India guy says that they are from the IRS lawsuit division. I asked why they called a place of business and the first thing he wants is my name and information. I said I'm not giving you my information and who are you looking for? He gave me a name that I cant say let alone spell and I said nobody of that name works here at this place of business. He apologized and hung up. I could hear a lot of people in the background and it was an obvious call center outsourced to a foreign country. I don't know if this is legit or not but I wouldn't trust these people. I would call an American IRS place and ask before I would give my info to some foreign guy saying he works for the IRS in Washington DC.

This number was a recording that says that they are the IRS and that they are filing suit against you. Then they say you need to call this number and get the information you need about the suit. WEIRD
