Calls several times a week. We do not pickup.

This number is used for fundraising for the Texas Fraternal order of Police. We are raising money to help our officers. If you have any questions, please call the number on your call id and you will be directed to our customer service department. You can also go to our website at www.texasfop.org.

How can someone that is on the "do not call list" have to put up with this calling?  They are always calling.  How can we get these people to be fined to the max.  They need to know I do not answer my phone unless I recognize the number.

This call comes like clock works. I am on a Do Not Call List for all phones. They will be reported.

I also called the Fraternal Order of Police Texas State Lodge and called their 800 number. They do in fact use the 214-453-6782 as one of their fund raising lines. I spoke with a lady at TX FOP and she assured me it was a legit fund raiser for fallen officers' families.When I asked her about their providing money to the familied of injured, fallen officers she said that they do. I then asked her if she wanted my address to send me money since my dad was killed in the line of duty when I was five. Her response was he a member of FOP and they only support the families of members.I'm sorry that is a crock full of you know what.A scam is a scam no matter what you call.

I don't know -- or care -- if this is a scam. It is obvious that many people who post here and on similar sites are loopy. Drunk, drugged, dizzy, or ditzy. One, for example, claims TX FOP FOUND was calling with Caller ID blocked and then "all of a sudden" started providing info. That's just silly.I have gotten more than a dozen calls from DIFFERENT sources in a single day. Assuming all came from the same source when there's no Caller ID information makes no sense.There are, in Texas, a slew of different beggars, all claiming to be acting on behalf of police officers. None -- including Shirley/Cindy -- are up front about how much money actually goes to benefit law enforcement, and how much goes into their own pockets. Unfortunately, most keep far more than they pass along to the intended recipients. Equally unfortunate is the number of them which are scams, or close to being scams. That has the effect of causing us to assume all are scams, when some are honorable, earnest, and diligent about helping the people who the donors want to help.One thing most people overlook about all of these organizations is that law enforcement officers are very often criminals, themselves. In Texas, just this past week, one male cop kidnapped another cop who was female. Being cops, they are in the perfect place to cover up their wrongdoing. Then, there is the blue wall of silence, the "brotherhood," and other fraternal conventions which put even honest cops at a disadvantage whenever they notice corruption in the ranks. Another thing that these fund raising organizations (Even the good, legitmate ones.) want you to overlook is that cops CHOOSE to do what they do. In other words, they get a certain amount of satisfaction out of merely being a cop. Witness the vast number of "auxilary" police, "posses," and other unpaid volunteers who take on some of the responsibilities, duties and badges of law enforcement. Many full time officers would pay for the privilege, just as thousands of Sports Car of America members buy cars, pay membership dues, and then pay to enter in order to go racing on the same weekends other folks are getting paid millions of dollars to race -- most cops would do the same thing.So, to assume that cops are underpaid or in any way need charity is foolish. That's what their unions are for; to collect dues from their members and to negotiate terms of employment with their bosses, and to create pension funds, provide life insurance, and otherwise take care of them.Teachers provide far greater direct benefit to the community and nobody collects money for them. At one local school, a teacher dropped dead in the middle of an assembly this spring. Nobody went to the phones to raise money for his widow or children. He died in the line of duty.When a cop dies in the line of duty, the family immediately becomes very rich by action of law and of funding which is already in place for such contingencies. There is no need to pad the pockets of telemarketers in the process of "donating" money to help the family. That family is already well taken care of, and will be for life.It doesn't matter where on the spectrum this particular beggar is. Clearly, from the postings, they do not completely follow the telemarketing law in every respect. If they were honest, earnest, and diligent, they would go BEYOND the law, and let the phone ring ten times (as courteous people do) before hanging up and moving to the next call. They would be sure and patiently answer each and every question put to them. They would, in fact, OFFER information like exactly where the money goes and how much of it stays in their pockets.Shirley (If she's not actually Cindy.) may have been impressed, but she would not have needed to call back if the organization had been earnest and diligent about treating her with respect. There would have been a detailed message on her answering machine, or they would have waited patiently while she finished what she was doing when the phone interrupted.Cops want us to hand them money, as if they're homeless beggars, but their begging organizations are as rude, arrogant, and disdainful of the law as many cops.

I hope that I can help ease the mind of those that are worried about this being a scam. Many of you that post here do not even try to call the number back. I did. I always call back a number I am unaware of if I've missed the call to have them remove me from their calling list as I am on the National and Texas Do Not Call list.I called back and I got a recording saying it was the Texas Fraternal Order of Police. They have made it to Atlanta TX. always heard  it is not fro real. DPS does not ask for donations.

This is the Texas Fraternal Order of Police Foundation (TX FOP FOUND), and it is a telephone con-game used to make money for their own use. They do use the bare minimum for charity work so they can maintain a tax-exempt charity status. FYI: Having the state and federal "Do Not Call" service does not prohibit tax-exempt charities from calling your home whenever they want. The law should be amended to include charities also, so write your state and federal elected officials and complain... frequently!

I am also on the do not call list and will be reporting this caller.Call taken by answering machine. Recorded message included two phone rings and then message "cannot complete call as dialed. please hang up and try again."

"Texas Fraternal Order of Police" uh-huh.The guy hung up VERY quickly once I informed him that MY son was a police officer, LOL!

I have asked them repeatedly to delete my number from their records. . . needless to say they haven't.  I just push ignore

they called and asked if micheal was here my name is anthony but the caller id said NBA EVENTS i thought maybe "micheal" or "me" won something maybe and my dad has been into NBA non stop lately  watchin it on t.v. or playin the video game so i said yes this is micheal and then they said; this is the Fraternal Order Of Police and we have no message; we will call you back" and they hang upso i thought the police at this point are on thier way so i called the number back  it put me on hold forever so i gave up then looked this s**t up online and now i know its no big deall they just want money or something   THANKS FRIENDS  H-Town baby

I just called back like 3 times and was able to get through and have them take me off their call list. I then called the FOP based in Dallas, TX and they said that they were doing fundraising and that the number was legit... the man I talked to sounded a little strange but I don't know hopefully they don't call again.

Called 5:10 on August 7th.The telemarketing company representing TX FOP is an absolutely sleazy organization. Started calling me (asking for me by name) less than a week after I moved into my place. For the past year, they have been hassling me by hiding their caller ID info as an "Out of area" number that uses call forwarding so I cannot callback or easily trace the call. They don't want *you* to be able to call them for some reason... I setup a block on all "Out of area" calls, and less than a week later they start sending their caller ID info just so they can get past the block and harass me.Never give them a cent.

Guess they're hitting Austin. Called at 6:39pm. No message.

Called at 5:43 pm. Didn't answer, let machine pick up. No message.

Got a call from tis number at 2:30 on 8/4/09. Why don't we all pledge to tell everyone we see to NEVER support this group or their funds?That effect will be the only way to ever stop them!

I am on the DO NOT CALL solicitation list for all my phone numbers. I am going to repor that you called by an automated process anyway.

They have called two times today and several times over the last week. It must be computer generated call because each time that I answer the line is dead but stays connected until I hangup.

This number has called me twice in four days, left no message either time.  When I call back, I get, "This number is temporarily unavailable."  Anyone know who this is or what they want?
