I called Verizon and had them block this number from calling my cell for 90 days.

Called today at 12:27pm at home while out (on a SUNDAY! Grrr) Caller ID said, "MIDWEST PUBLI" left no message (of course) based on website chatter sounds like they are telestalkers/panhandlers for some charity, God knows which one because they never leave messages and I never pick up.

Remember, the "DO NOT CALL" list does NOT cover non-profit organizations.  They probably had good lobbyists when Congress enacted the law.  They are not required to remove your name from their lists.

Thanks for good info above.  I missed their call this evening. Too bad.Funny - it's called Midwest Publish, with a 231 area code, which is Michigan - not quite the Midwest.  And I read somewhere they also have a 440 area code - and darned if that's not Mexico City!

so I get a call from this number at my bussiness and its a call for some police task force requesting donations.  I sponsered an advertisement in their police magazine for 125 dollars.  recievied the bill and paid it.  well about 2 or three weeks later I get a call from the same number.  I figure they were saying thankyou.  however its a man saying he is calling for the firefighters and they were doing a fundraiser.  at this point I realized I was scammed so I listen to his presentation and tell him id love to help (with no intentions of sending anything again) he tells me 500  300 are the big ones.  so I tell him ill do 300 dollars.  they send a bill to me and I read through it this time to find out its a publishing company that keeps most of the money.  about a month or less latter I get  a call same number saying they were the veterns group.  the funny thing is all the presentations are the same they just change the words.  I acctully think it was the same guy the 2nd and 3rd time.  so of course I tell them to put me down for 350 this time.  I receive reminders in the mail weekly from the vets and firefightewrs asking where my donation is and also some lady calls and asked me to send less.  she calls couple weeks later for the other group and says the same thing.  so I guess the recap of this is these BASTARDS are scammers I learned the hard way. however everytime they call I will always tell them ill help so I can get my 125 dollars out of them in postage and phone calls.  I will learn their names and make life hell for them.

**BEWARE**  Midwest Publishing is a telemarketing company.  They called from this number:  231.796.7051.  A google search shows they are located in Big Rapids, MI.  Call this number to get thru to someone:  231-796-9276.  When I called they could not provide me with any credentials such as BBB or any other governing organization.  They headquarters is located at 10844 N 23rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ  85029.  Phone number is 602-943-1244. Got a call on my cell phone from 231-796-7051 and the person asked for my husband.  I asked who was calling and he said Kevin.  When I handed the phone to my husband he hung up.  When we try to return the call, the call does not go through.  It sounds like something is wrong with the line.  This is my cell phone which is on a DNC list.

Breast Cancer Research donation request.  This is the first time they've called when I was home.  They said "Mr K, you are a hard man to get a hold of".  Obviously the DNC list is ignored by these spammers (just look at the Iowa and New York Attorneys General sites on Midwest Publishing to see the trouble they've gotten into previously).

As soon as I saw "Midwest Publish," I knew it was a scam of some kind, but I answered anyway. "Is Tom there?" No Tom here. "Well, is this the man of the house." Yeah. "We're calling for breast cancer research."The government simply has to do something about these callers. Apparently the DNC list stopped them for a while, but by spoofing numbers, they can operate just as they always did.

I first got a blocked call (caller I.D. stated "unknown") and then got another call within ten minutes with this phone number and my caller I.D. stated: "midwest publish". (I DID say "hello" with the blocked call, BUT THEY HUNG UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)I got a "live" person who said they were accepting donations for some police benevolent something or other charity. The guy mentioned how the police are always there to help protect against violent crime against people and work against people breaking into your home. The way it was worded was downright creepy.I listened to his "schpiel", and then said if he wanted a donation he'll have to send the request by mail as I do not agree to any monetary dealings over the phone - and then I hung up - without giving him ANY more information!I wouldn't trust whoever these people are with a ten-foot-pole! Having said that, I have two very protective dogs, and more importantly, a loving God who protects me 24/7.I do not allow fear to control my actions.

called twice in 10 minutes asked for my daughter - i said she was not home (she wasn't) and wanted to know when she would be back. I asked who this was that was calling - she said Kelsey- i asked who she worked for and she hung up on me......

They call at least 2 times a day, even on weekends. No messages are ever left

Just called here. no message. I don't answer calls if I don't recognize the number, and Midwest Publish has no business with me. Nice or not, I don't care, just don't call!

Funny that you are happy there are companies like this, people who are nothing but phone spammers.  If you gave money to them then you were duped.  I would bet 90+ percent of your donation went in their wallets.

probably the nicest most polite people I've spoke to.  made me feel great about giving.  im just glad there are great companies like these. they do such great work for charities. I was extremely pleased with my expierence. THANKS!

This number calls repeatedly and appears to be some telemarketing firm that tries to solicit donations for a variety of causes.  This time it was for drug task force or some such crap.  The next time it is for breast cancer.

This number calls my cellphone frequently, sometimes several times a day and always this number of some variant thereof: (213) 796-xxxx. I answered yesterday, and it is apparently some telemarketing firm trying to solicit donations for some police drug task force.  I have a feeling they try to solicit money for a lot of different organizations, thus the constant calls.  They do not obey the request to be put on their DO NOT CALL list or care that they are calling a cellphone.  RUDE!

Constant baggering, missed calls

These people call me incessantly, twice daily. Once in the morning and once after 5pm on my business phone. They usually block their ID, but if I'm still in the office, I'll pick up the phone and say, "we're sorry, but the party you're trying to reach does not accept unavailable calls." I then hang up. They immediately unblock the phone and call right back, however. The ID box says that they are "Midwest Publish" and that's all that's visible. I have yet to answer to talk to anyone from there. This has been going on for several months, now. I'm at my wits end and thoroughly fed freakin' up!
