i also had a call from joe mayers and he said the same things to me. i have been scared to death and trying to figure out if this is a scam.

This number called me at my job definitely a foreigner with a urgent message to return his phone call by the end of the day or Good Luck. I returned the phone call to a Mark Jackson who explianed I had a loan that had gone to collections and that they were the third party collecting on this account. I did indeed have a loan that had been defaulted on so I went on to listen. He told me I had to pay the balance in full or I would have to contact my lawyer because I would be taken to court. This man had all my info so I beleived he was liget. I told him I didn;t have the payment in full so he allowed me to speak to his manager a Mr Joseph Fernandez to set up payment arrangements. I complied with everything thinking I was doing what I was supposed to be. I payed these people over $300, but then something told me to contact my original loan people, and to no avil they never heard of these people and had no record of me paying anthing back even though I had confirmation #'s for all my payments. I then  contacted my back & put a freeze on my account & spoke to the Fraud dept. I explained the situation and they are now investigating this matter.I also contacted the credit beureau to put a fraud alert on that as well because these people had all my information. If you receive any calls from these people hang up Immediately & contact your bank & the credit agencies. I wouldn't wish this on anyone !

Yeah this guy called I did not listen to the message they have tired before. It is about pay day loans. Basically it is a scam so do not give out any personal info. If it was real one you could understand them and two if it was a real law firem they would come in a search. Called from Beverly Hills CA

I received 2 messages (at work!) from a man who was speaking with a thick Indian accent.  He said that I, or my attorney, should return his call immediately.  He said it was extremely time sensitive.  His name was "Joe Mayers"  (it was very difficult to understand his name)  He said that the number was his hotline number.  He also said that if I don't return the call that he could only wish me goodl luck and that I will need it as the situation will close on me.

I have gotten this same call for the past two days. Today my techie friend signed the number up for a whole bunch of nonsense via a computer program that he has. Going to give this guy a dose of his own medicine.

These people  have been harassing me as well. I started receiving calls from a man with a very thick Indian accent who was actually rather threatening and almost un-understandable on the message. I will not answer phone calls from numbers I don't know. Call after call and even at my work place which my calls are screened..(when they told me it was a guy from law firm I had them put it thru to my voice mail)same voice but a different line. Was getting these calls several times a day every day and then they stopped. I did talk to my lawyer and left him listen to the voice mails left and he told me to disregard as there trying to scare and intimadate you into calling them and if you have a dedt collection calling you this is not the kind of message that is left, you will be told the name of the Collection Agency along with a reference number and recieve a letter from the agency advising you of the collection action  that's being taken. And that's only after you have recieved statements from the person you owe and they may even advise you at first that if this not taking care of then they will send you to collections, bottom line there is a protocol that Collection Agency follow and this is not it.. So I thought the calls had stopped and this morning I recieved this call which on my cell comes in on Line one says line one won't show any numbers (?) not sure whta that's about but I never answer these calls either..the voice was the same Indian accent which this message was different agan..  "This message is intended for (me), the very second you receive this message I need you or your retain attorney of record (shouting), to return the call. This time is , extremely time sensitive. My name is Michael Tucker and the hotline to my reception is 310-362-3162. I will repeat that 310-362-3162. Don't disregard this message, do return the call. If you don't return the call and I don't hear from your attorney either, the only thing I can do.... (whispering) is wish you good luck. This situation will close on you.. goodbye." So far today this has been the only call but yes were still in the earlly stages of the day..I'm off today so it will be interesting to see if I have a VM on my office phone tomorrow. I was really surprised by the number of you that has had the same experience, imagine the people that hasn't seen this page or not a clue....Thanks for your time and have a great day

I received this call from the above number and the message left was the same as "oh hell no's" comment above on this page. It was word for word, David Christopher was his name and towards the end of the message he began getting louder. I am not calling back, I have received calls like this before and I do not owe any loan companies money! How can we stop these people, do I get my number changed or what?

I just received this call first one Indian accent guy called and ask me to right a number down which was 310-362-3162 Couldnt really understand him but he want me to call the above number back to talk with a Sr Lawyer name Mark Benjamin. I said you called me so can I help you with. He then asked that I hold on and he transfered me to another Indian guy that said his name was Mark Benjamin calling from the United State Federal Courts of California and be honesty with him. I'm thinking to myself is this guy serious. He then asked for my lawyers number so that he can send him information about a case against me that will be filed on Monday. I told him that I filed bankruptcy. he said thats not exceptable because he already filed with the courts and I said thought it wasnt filed yet. He hung up the phone. I quess I want hear from them again.

I too have been receiving these threatening phone calls.  I received a message today from Shawn Taylor from the law firm of Lawrence "something" telling me that I had a case against me and I needed to call him back immediately at 310-362-3162.  I unfortunately made the mistake back in September of actually answering one of these calls and being that it was way to early in the morning I was still asleep and scared into giving him my credit card number.  After I woke up completely I realized that it was a scam and canceled my credit card with my bank.  This is after I lost $1000... still haven't seen it returned even though I have called the company listed on my statement.  I have since received calls from the same individual stating that he wants to be my friend and he loves me... all with the same heavy Indian accent.  I want these phone calls to end!!!!  I since do not answer any private numbers or any numbers that I do not know. I did do a reverse check on this number and it showed up in Beverly Hills, CA.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF GETTING HARRASSING PHONE CALLS AND THEN THEY KEEP CLLING CAND I CANT GET MY NUMBER CHANGED BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY PHONE I HAVE AND MY FAMILY HAS THE NUMBER, SO WHAT IS A PERSON SUPPOSED TO DO.

I got 2 calls over the last 2 days to my cell phone. It was a man with a thickIndian accent. I listened to it about 10 times and could only make out parts of what he was saying. He asked me to call 310-362-3162, but the call was made from 810-671-485. I did not answer the call, so he left a message stating that his name was David Rome(sp?). He stated that I must not ignore his call as it was a matter of extreme importance and that I must call him back immediately or the attorney Antonio Franco at 310-362-3162 to make "restitution". He knew my first name, but didn't even come close on my last name. He said at the end, " Ryan do not ignore this call. If you do not respond, all I can say is good luck to you as this situation falls on you." He ended in a very quiet threatening voice. I immediately changed my phone number, so he can't call tomorrow. LOL! I would like to know who to notify also. This a$$hole needs to be stopped. In looking up the International area codes 810 is Rwanda or Russia. 810 in the USA is Michigan.

I was called by this same number today telling me something like i own $586.84 and if i'd like they could settel out of court, if not then i would have to go to fenreal court in ca. on friday or suffer the con's.  It seem to me that he wanted a cerdit card number more than anything.  I told him to send me the paper work of what he's talking about and then we go from there,

I have been receiving several of these calls.  The latest one left me message stating that he was from the law office of Laurent or Lawrence Wolf and there was a criminal matter against me. He said his name was Shawn Taylor.  I also received a call to call back from (415) 366-9597.  I have contacted the Federal Trade Commission and filed a complaint with them.

This happened to me too. I am using a payday lender right now but I pay them back every payday. I googled federal council of us government and got nothing. I did the reverse phone number look up on whitepages.com and they are located in Burbank, CA. But no name or address was given. I just happened to think about typing the number on google search and I found this page. You all don't know how relieved I am to have found this. I never answered the call because is said private on my phone. But I got a voice mail from them yesterday and they called three times in a row today. I thought it to be very suspicious that the caller was foreign calling from u.s. government. It's funny how all these calls have taken place this month.  It is a complete shame that people would so such a thing. I hope someone catches them and puts a stop to it.by chris woods

My husband has gotten 2 calls already since last night. The caller is claiming he is from a Law Firm saying he needed to return his call. These calls are being made to his job and I am sorry but my husband does not need to lose his job over some scam. VERY think indian accent with the name of Mark Johnson. Does anyone know who to call to report the claim.

They called me a couple times today.Very thick Indian accent said they were with some Federal Credit something or another. Had the last 4 numbers of my social.Said I owed like $800 and had 3 options. Either show up at court tomorrow in California and pay $9000,get an attorney and fight it in court again tomorrow or pay the balance today.If I do nothing I will be arrested within 2 days.They can not threaten you or fail to provide documents or contracts it is your right as a consumer to have this information.They can not falsify who or what they represent and if they do in fact work for an attorney then they have to have some sort of contract or provide you with paperwork if you request it.If they are attempting to collect a debt they can not threaten you by being arrested. I am an employee for a district court I know my basic rights from experience.A debt collector can not in any way threaten you.I have filed a claim through the FTC website.Hopefully they will leave me alone but it's always best to know your rights as a consumer whether you owe money or not!!!

this number called me at work and on my cell phone "Mark Jackson" with an urgent message.  This guy was not from this country and had a thick accent the guy was so forgein I could barely understand him.  He left a very threatening message, when i called him back everything i said was repeated clearly in the phone, so obviously he was recording or something, & said a law suit was filed against me because i didn't pay my payday loan off and _____ cash international (i couldn't understand him, i asked 3 times) filed a lawsuit and is pressing charges or something because they want there money.  I don't have a payday loan. The number is a landline in Inglewood, CA, and the phone carrier is PAC - WEST TELECOMM, INC. registered since 1996.  So I don't who this guy is by said I can only wish you luck if you don't take care of this matter.  Whatever.

Caller said this was very time sensitive and if I or my attorney did return the call, all he could do is wish me good luck. Left messages on both my land line and cell.

I started receiving calls - 6 yesterday and today too - from the same number and same man with extremely heavy Indian accent.  I got calls at work, on my cell phon, and at home, all from David Christopher from the Federal Counsel for US Government.  He said (as much as I could understand him) that they are going to send subpoena in the mail to my address.How can I stop this annoying harrassment?

I got a call at work today and the guy gave me a call back number of this but the caller ID showed a local number.  The name he gave was Matthew and I needed to call the senior attorney Mark Benjamin. Still giving the name of Federal Counsel for US Government.  If I had not received a call a few months go that sounded fishy from another number, I probably would have called him back to see what the deal was. So I decided to check the call out.  Unlike this call, my dad didn't anser the phone at home and the guy give him my personal information.

foreign accent, could barely understand him. He threatened lawyers and legal action if I did not call him back immediatly. On the second message 2 hours later, he gave the name of a supervisor.

after about 7 messages over the last 3 days .. 3 today at about 8:00 in the morning with the same scripted message but the name was not david christopher or ken calvin {as seen on another site} mine was mark jackson.. i already e-mailed my attorney and will be speaking to them this week.Anyway called the number back this morning and a person named herandez answered .i informed him that my attorney will be calling them and i have filed reports on the FTC website,{ the more reports to the FTC THE FASTER THINGS SHOULD GET DONE} i ended the call that mark jackson ,ken calvin, or dave christopher or whatever name he wants to use to stop the harassing calls as further action will be taken

So about 3 or 4 days ago I started getting 4 calls a day with the same horrible messages.  "This message is intended for (me), the very second you receive this message I need you or your retain attorney of record (shouting), to return the call. Don't disregard this message, do return the call. If you don't return the call (shouting) and I dont hear from your attorney either (still shouting), the only thing I can do.... Then, I received a message from the same dude today, but from 303-214-9057... which I may have answered because I have a lot of friends in that area code. This one went as follows:"This is call from Federal Department of U.S. Government. My name is David Christopher. The nature of my call is a lawsuit, need attorney and social security number. So contact my number 310-362-3162. You need to contact my number. I'm sorry to say you have to ??????? goodbye." At this point I am wondering if I could file some sort of suit against them for impersonating a Federal Department of the U.S. I have the messages saved and everything. If anybody has any advice... I'm open to it. I am NOT calling this bastard back.

got 2 calls first one said 840 256 4261 which when you call back does not go thru second was unavailable on my caller ID but today the name was mark jackson from the 310 362 3162 wanting a lawyer or i to call or else

I received a call form the same place i have still been unable to get through but im sure its a huge scam! im an attorney and they have no idea who they are messing with! if anyone gets a different number to get through at please post it as i would love to give them a dose of their own!

rec'd a call today, 1:01pm (est), to my cell phone, msg left by a ? ken calvin, VERY thick indian accent. number wasnt even a full number..it was 810-671-485. said he was calling from ? federal council of ??. said there was a legal case against me with my name and soccial security number. i needed to call him back now..that it "was very emergency for you". call back number left was 310-362-3162. called # back...busy tone for almost 30 min. i was disconnected 3 times before a full conversation took place. finally talks to a joseph fernandez/hernandez. claimed that i had an unpaid loan that i took out on the internet from FIRST CASH INTERNATIONAL. not true!they had the last 4 digs of my SS #, my full name, address, and two "references--my small childs name and a cross between my ex husband's first name and his mothers maiden name. they had the name of my bank but could not provide me with any other info..like when did i supposedly take out a loan, what is their number so i could call(was tiold it would be a conflict of interest so they couldnt give it to me), told me the gross amt that was "loaned" to me was $651. they said all communication was thru email, when i questioned why i had recieved NOTHING by reg mail. this was the first call made to me. i was told i had to be in court tomorrow or i was going to jail. that the $ was put into my account and the creditor wants to be paid back.i challenged this guy on several levels...he finally said that he would "check the validity of this claim " and would call me back....hahahah!! yeah..right!what can i do?who do i file a complaint against?
