(310) 627-2191
I received a Restricted call. They left a message they were a process server & had papers to serve my Husband at ____ address (had my address - which I can pull up anyone's address through property tax records). he needed to call back 877-630-0125 with case ref #____. I called back told them I received a call that they were trying to serve papers to my husband. gave case #, they gave me the name and asked if this was me. I said no it was my husband but he was at work. He said that he was collection on an Aspire Visa, which my husband does not have (he doesn't do credit cards), started rambling about 6 years and that he owed $9,674.76. Said had to call back by end of business or they were filing suite. I never heard of any lawyer not giving you a chance to call back within 24-48 hours to settle a debt outside of court. Well if a process server is serving papers then a case is already been filed. I looked in court system and there is no case. I said so you bought the debt, he said he worked for a law office & his client hired him, but the more I questioned the more defensive he got. He said I could call back if my husband gave me permission to speak on his behalf (which is wrong) Hubby has to call them & give them permission to speak to me. Said that I could call him back on his direct number 310-627-2191 that his name was Bart Carroll but I could call him Gino, said it was easier. 1) if he works for a law firm he should know you cant talk to anyone except the person you are calling for 2) didn't state the Fair Collection Act law "this is an attempt to to collect a debt....." 3) why would a company hire an attorney in California for a case in Alabama This call has scam wrote all over it. Make sure you do your investigations before calling back or giving out any information. Listen what they are saying to you. Ask questions and if they are not willing to give you answers , HANG UP
