If a debt collector calls and threatens you in any way or calls you names you can report them and you can sue them. Tell them if you talk to them, that you're recording the call and I can tell you they will either hang up or be a lot more respectful.

Most collection services are like this. Ideally they want the full amount you owe because they bought the debt from whom ever at a lower price than you owe. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that if they can't prove how much you owe then you don't technically owe them anything. As for things you can do, I'm not for certain. Calls to home, work or your cellphone will be hard to stop since they aren't soliciting, they're trying to collect what could legally be theirs. In the end this is how collection people are. They have no obligation to be nice or respect you in any way, but I don't think they can garnish your wages either. So I guess you can view it as annoying vs. being screwed by garnish.

It never seems to amaze me how people feed of negativity, but we are who we are. Or YOU are who you are. if u cant take time to find out negative comments about the number calling you, you should focus even half that effor into looking up debt collection. Let me school you on a little... Collectors can't give out the nature of the call until you at least confirm the info that YOU orginally gave. Once an ID is made then they will answer any and all questions. The agencies out there have to go to automated calls because there are SO many people who REFUSE (and a lot who just can't) pay their medical bills but not enough time in the day and collectors to help the HOSPITAL that YOU went to get service because you needed it. I'm sure the people that pay their bills OR find a way to call to find out options are not here posting these ridiculous comments about evading YOUR bill and your OBLIGATIONS! Don't get me wrong...there some bad collector out there in the world but come on...stop it and pay your bills or ASK for help! I don't care...you can tell them I sent you :-D

I have recieved a call in the past but it has been at least a month ago. He stated his name and that it was important that i call him back. He did not state why i needed to call him back at all. I have just recently purchased a new vehicle and had a credit report done. I had very good credit and there was nothing on there stating i had a bill with a collections agency. I do not want to call these people back because i have no clue what they are caling about. They need to leave us all alone, if this is a scam we need to do something about it. I had the same problem...I think this number is part of a credit service for people with credit or financial problems...my guess is that my number used to be one of their clients numbers. If you get through to a representative, tell that person that you are not affiliated with their company and ask to be taken off their list of contacts. Hope this helps!

Someone from that number called me, at work, when my boss was standing next to me ... at first (since I work in accounting) I thought it was for the company - it wasn't. When I told her that I could not talk to her, from work, I hung up. (Debbie Green is the offive manager, very nasty attitude, it matches her appearance)-They tried to get me to pay a debt that had been discharged in bankruptcy 8 years ago. They also tried to make me pay a hospital bill that had been paid by Hoosier Healthwise. They are a collection agency and a few of the bills they wanted me to pay were legitimate, I asked to make payment arrangements and paid off what I owed them but they still kept calling me at work even though I asked them many times not to. They know my phone number and have my address, there was no need to keep calling me at work when I was paying them every two weeks like we agreed. They are unprofessional and uncooperative.
