I too had a similar call, from a man with a foreign accent on Aug. 5th. He left a message on my cell phone. He said it was an urgent matter, to call him back, and if I disregarded the message, I needed an attorney and wished me well in the future, if I did not respond to his call. I phoned, and he too, knew all my personal information as far as name, address, bank info., account number, social security number and so forth. He told me that I owed on a loan, that I never repaid back, and I needed to pay $67,000. He then threatened me and told me that I would be arrested, and he read an affidavit, accusing me of being a prime suspect on fraud. I couldn't get any info. from him, just wanting me to have an attorney. He hung up on me. I reported this to the FTC. and to my local authorities.

A man with a foreign accent (a.k.a Steve Matthews)called threatening me saying that an Affidavit was being taken out on me for 3 different counts and I needed to pay $5484 in order to stop it or I'd be arrested. This man says he is with the Legal Affidavit Office and that U.S. National Bank is pressing charges against me for an unpaid bounced checks and wire fraud. I have no pay day loan and never have so I knew it was a scam but this man knows my SSN and bank Account# so I have reported it to my Bank and the FBI Fraud investigation Unit. Please help if any one has any info. on who this is. I have also Googled for any information on this, it appears to be a serious hoax!!! He must have changed phone numbers because if you search for number: 3109455531 on this website you will see several other reports of the same thing.
