The first time I called this number it rang and rang but now there is a recording that says the number cant be completed as dialed and to check the number

I found this number in my husband's phone. I added it to my address book. When I looked at our Verizon account my husband's number came up as called me and the name I had added this number on my phone was listed. How is that even possible?
