My friend got several text messages from this number from a man claiming to be Allen Smith with Fed Loans. The messages continued over the course of four months. Through the messages, the “Allen Smith” frequently requested money from my friend with the promise of her gaining a grant in the amount of $90,000. This was ensured to be received on a cell phone, an Apple iPhone 12, if she sent it off to a specific address. She has been scammed out of several hundreds of dollars, has nearly lost her apartment, phone, all of her furniture and electronics, and her payeeship. She had to close a checking account because of money stolen from her payee account consistently over the course of three months. I’m sure the number was spoofed, but this is a warning to anyone who is contacted by this number or anyone representing themselves as a Federal Loan employee.
