It is a Market Research company which conducts surveys over the phone. Market Research firms are allowed to call anyone from 9AM to 9PM. This company calls fortune 500 companies/doctors/lawyers etc.. They only leave messages for business calling. Some businesses, depending on the study, have the opportunity to call back at a 1-800 number to do the survey. They do not leave messages for households.

If you answer and wait a minute, someone will come on the line and give you a spiel about asking for your opinion on things. (Radio, politics, TV etc). You have to give them a moment or two for the auto-dialer to connect to a live person. After that you can tell them to take you off their calling list.

Since the number is from Canada and I'm in California, USA not going to make a long distance call just to tell them to put me on their DNC list.
