I filled out an update application. She said I forgot to fill out the dates to my recent health procedures. I asked her if she was really with the SSA. She said we can hang up and I can call her right back. She just wanted to confirm my address and the dates I received my procedures. My gut find this strange. I verified that it is legit. they did not ask for social. but they did call about my pending application. once the conversation was over i looked on the SSI website and found that my case was approved 12/13/23 (today). i knew my case was being handled in Philadelphia and i asked her what state she is in. she knew my ss amount as well.

This was indeed a real call from the SS office inquiring about my Medicare application. The lady did not ask me for any confidential info other than my name, dob and proceeded to tell me I needed to visit my closest SS office to fill out a name change application. It looks like this number has been spoofed many times but in my case I actually applied for the insurance and gave my phone number and the lady gave me her full name.

Received a call this morning saying that my form was incomplete. I questioned who they were, he said there was no way to confirm if the call was legitimate. I could call the social security office but it would take two hours to track down "Dan"; the only name he was willing to give. I said I would not give my info and he quickly got off. I call the ss office and the assured me there were no incomplete forms. The number was unfamiliar to them. They always give first and last names, identifiable number, and other specific info to assure that it is indeed from their office. DO NOT GIVE Info!
