Received a message on a phone number that I only use for entering sweepstakes, I know it is not legit because no message was left. A legit company would (a) list the company they are calling from (b) leave a message and (c) direct you to the sweepstakes that you entered. Just another spam caller, will not return nor will I answer any of these calls. Thank goodness for this site and the other comments.

I emailed my cell number to a craigslist add for a car. I never give out my number much. They called a day later (this eve). I did not answer.I believe that is what happened. Got a robocall at 12:29PM PST (my Seattle, WA work phone is unlisted). They left a 3 second voice mail of static.

Clearly a scam. They leave a silly message about an auto warranty. The call's final bounce uses a circuit in New Mexico. This is some group that's trying to defraud suckers either by fooling them into buying some useless, overpriced insurance; or by duping them into giving out their private details, such as credit card, social security, etc. without actually providing any crappy product whatsoever. They may have gotten these phone numbers by buying a list of private info from a hospital employee, civil service worker, or whatever. Don't call them back. Just report them: To report phone fraud, visit FTC.gov or call 1-877-FTC-HELP. To report violations of the National Do Not Call Registry, visit DoNotCall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222. I'm gonna say it's someone using some kind of automated system. He probably calls like 5 people at a time then the system just gives him the first person to answer, leaving nothing but static for the rest of us. Terrible terrible design idea....
