Got a call from this number. I do not answer numbers that does not show a name (most of them are scammers and I don't have my time to waste). I did not sign up for a clinical study and they keep calling.

they are a research company. they will only contact you if you signed up to be involved in a clinical study.

Called twice the last 2 days claiming to be a survey company. Then I read this any they claim to be a bunch of things....glad I told em to F off from the start

Acurian is the company name of who called me.  A woman named Annett left a message saying said it had something to do with research.

Caller sounded plausible that as he said, was calling about my recent AAA policy and in order to improve or enhance my policy, would I answer some survey questions.  I simply said I do not partivpate in unsolicited surveys.  If the AAA thing wasn't a lucky guess, I'd say most likely these people are stealing or have bought AAA new membership private information and are using it to try and profile people's susceptibility towards being manipulated (when finding such people, likely their 'game' is stepped up on successive calls, that escalate most likely into con games aimed at fleecing older people).

This is a Luth Research Co. that from what I read here goes by different names--so maybe a company that makes calls for research, companies (plural)? Regardless I'd agreed to watch an hour-long television program through Clearview Research and the phone rang DURING the broadcast with this number--no ID. I was supposed to be giving an opinion of the show so I wasn't taking calls during the program--and I wouldn't have known it was them anyway.It's not at all professional of them to not identify themselves when they call so I  no longer wish to deal with them.The television program pilot was produced by ABC which given the shabby treatment that folks here report I'm really surprised to see.

Caller ID said "Luth Research."  I did not pick up.  They did not leave a message but I could hear several people talking in the background and a male voice said "I've got a private party."

Someone calls from this number then shortly after saying hello, they hang up. Has happened a number of times

They have called my house and left creepy voicemails, whispering the names of my family into the phone. Do not answer phone calls from this number. Someone should have this reported

Thanks for all the info. They called twice. I let my ans machine pick it up both times. I've been doing that for many years but just recently I began a job search and I'm finding that when I think I'm replying to one state or company name but actually reaching somewhere else. I stop the progression when stuff like this happens - there's some wrong with the picture right there. I did not apply to "Lutheran Research" but, I thought, what if they were (if they even exist at all!) a subsidiary of a company that I did apply for? You saved me the annoyance and waste of time this time.

The caller ID said "California". They have called here several times but never leave a message.   From what I am reading, previous callers say it is merely telemarketers violating the privacy of my home with their solicitations.

Got 7 calls even after I nicely asked them to stop.

So just to clarify. I've worked for 2 legitimate telephone survey companies. One of them purely market research, and the other did political polling as well. The reason that these people seem pushy is for a few reasons. First, somebody mentioned asking "for the man or woman of the house or whomever had the most recent birthday." That is a very commonly scripted question as part of the introduction script (remember that these people are required to read the questions exactly as they are written, they are not allowed to have a conversation or say anything that isn't on the screen in front of them.) Demographic questions such as "Would you primarily identify yourself as hispanic or of hispanic origin?" are often in there too. We didn't get to write the questions, only read them to people. So this actually sounds like a legitimate market research call center to me from all the descriptions. Also, for better or for worse, market researchers are not required to abide by the federal DNC list, as they are not selling a product. These poor guys calling you are just regular wage slaves trying to make a buck. Their job performance is measured in how many completed surveys they can get over time, and they often have supervisors monitoring their calls to make sure they are reading the questions correctly and not going off script. It's a crap job and it sucks more if you have a thin skin because people will often spew all kinds of hateful abuse at you for just doing your job, but there you go.All that said, here is a tip. When they start asking you the qualifier questions, and they ask if you work for a market research company, say yes. Usually that means they can't continue and you won't get called back for that survey. Also, you can say the exact words, "Take my number off your list." You have to say those exact words or they will not do it, the bosses are usually very strict about that point. If you say "Don't call me again" or "stop calling me" or just hang up, then that is recorded and your number re-enters the queue to be called again later. You must say the words "Take me off your list" or "Take my number off your list." then you will not be called back for that survey. There's no retention for that usually, however, so later when phone number blocks are randomly generated for the next survey, your number might show up again.Hope somebody finds this helpful.

They claimed to be "a national "independent" research firm conducting a study on where you get your news from, and that they needed to speak to the male or female of the household who had the latest birthday."Now tell me something. What does the news and who had the most recent birthday have in common? Not a thing, statistically speaking. This has scam written all over it. And if it doesn't, who cares, because media is all controlled in the hands of very few corporations now. Don't believe me? Look up the company "Newscorp" on wikipedia, and see how many things they (Rupert Murdoch) owns. It's all at the bottom of the page.

Caller ID:  Luth researchI didn't answer. It was the 4th telemarketer to call in last 30 minutes. A phone is for my convenience not theirs.

I keep getting calls from this number almost every other day on my cell. All my numbers are on the do not call list. When you call it back, it wants you to leave a message after pressing one!

after the girl said her speech, i told her to put me on the do not call list.  she was very pushy and said she just wanted to know if i was hispanic.  i told her i wasn't going to answer any questions, and again told her to put me on the dnc list.  she kept asking me to answer the question, so i hung up.  the same number has called me three times in one day.  since i only warned her once, i have to warn them two more times before i can take the company to small claims court.  that's if the courts can find them to fine them.  my advice, just hang up on them.

I've gotten calls from this number a few times.  no one there when I answer, yet they will call back, hang.  crazy people with nothing but time and scams on their minds.

i received my first call from this number today (may 2, 2010) about 2pm....  I wasn't available to pick up the call so I don't know who it was from.  Out of curiosity, I just hit dial on my cell to call the number back... I got a recording that said something like "you have reached the call back feature - please leave a message"...  I hung up.... no clue who this is or what it's about......but I AM on the national do not call list and have been so since that service became available.

I am receiving calls on a daily basis at all hours and my children are being awakened by this phone calls. I am truly tired of them and want them to be stopped now. Last night I was finally able to reach them and left a message to stop calling - extremely annoying. - Sorry I previously submitted this and put my telephone company's name in which is an error. It comes up as Luth Research. Ty
