(703) 988-5233
I have received multiple calls from 703-988-5233. The caller has a foreign accent, yet claims to be "Bob Smith" with "U.S. Auto Com Center." He immediately cuts off any attempt to address him by going into his sales pitch about supposedly providing me with 3 free quotes for automobile insurance but wants to verify my mailing address and vehicle. I ask him for his mailing address and he ignores my request and continues to tell me about the free quotes he wants to send me in the mail. I again ask for his mailing address because I need to send him a letter in the mail. Then he tries to give me what is probably a fake EMAIL address. I insist that I don't need an email address but need a physical mailing address because I need to send him a letter in the mail. Mid-sentence of my request, he hangs up on me. This has happened several times already. I called the number back immediately, only for it to go to an automated voicemail with the following message: "You've reached a Pinger number. We'll let the person know you called. To get your own No-Monthly Charge Unlimited Texting and Calling number, go to Pinger.com. All I can do is hang up now; why don't you go first so I don't have to hang up on you." I went to www.pinger.com to see what options there were to file a complaint on the number and they do have a reporting option. Below is the information on their page regarding harrassing calls or texts: ___________________________________________________________ If you're experiencing any sort of harassment from any of our users, please follow the steps below to address the issue. If you are under 18, please have your parent or guardian assist you. This applies to both Pinger users and non-Pinger users. What to do if you are receiving inappropriate text messages •First, take a screenshot of the offending text message(s), then block the sender from texting you (follow the link for instructions). We won't tell them you've blocked them. •Then, if you'd like to report a Pinger user, submit a support request and make sure to report the phone number(s) that have been bothering you. If you are a Pinger user, include your account information as well. What to do if you are receiving inappropriate calls •The simplest thing to do first is, don't answer the call. •Submit a support request with the offending Pinger phone number(s). If you are a Pinger user, include your account information as well. Please note that in both situations, we cannot give out user information without law enforcement involvement, but we are more than willing to assist law enforcement with their investigation. This is in accordance with our privacy policy. ___________________________________________________________ Here's the link to file a report on harrassing calls: http://pinger.zendesk.com/anonymous_requests/new So I filed a quick complaint about the harrassing calls. Hopefully they'll resolve this. In my report I also included the following. I should not have to continue to be bothered by these calls and I shouldn't have to just ignore the call and "not answer it." This line is my personal business line and I cannot afford such time wasted with this nonsense. Please consider this my formal request for this number and any other numbers said company also has purchased from your organization to cease contacting me. This is a violation of my rights and is against the law. It is considered harrassment to keep calling me, not to mention rather rude to hang up on me when they called me to begin with.
