They called saying they were with Card Member Services Verification Dept., that someone in Texas and Michigan had my social security number and was trying to open a credit card. The caller read out to me all but the first 3 digits of my social security number, had my MasterCard and Visa numbers, knew the card balances, how I had paid my monthly bills, and the amounts paid, but they needed to know the expiration date of my MasterCard.
