This individual only identified as Richard Schmiel attempted to scam my family by trying to rent a home that was for sale. I contacted the broker after a quick search on the property; they indicated no Richard Schmiel had a relationship with the broker. Richard kept requesting my relative to send funds via Zelle to two unknown email addresses. He even produced a contract which was issued by an alleged attorney by the name of Wesker Leon. I conducted a search in the state of California for Mr. Leon's bar number without success. It is my opinion that Mr. Schmiel concocted or at least participated to some degree in a rental scam preying on desperate people.
