The 770 area code covers 29 counties in north and central Georgia. It includes major cities and communities such as Alpharetta, Atlanta, Duluth, Kennesaw, Marietta, and Roswell. The area code essentially surrounds Atlanta's 404 area code, divided roughly by Interstate 285. Alpharetta, dubbed the “Technology City of the South,” is home to more than 700 technology companies, dating back to infrastructure investments made in the 1980s by businessman and former presidential candidate, Ross Perot. The city’s strategic location near Atlanta enhances its appeal for businesses and professionals. Alpharetta has more workers per square mile than most major metropolises, including Atlanta. Atlanta’s economy is diverse, with strong sectors in finance, transportation, and media. The presence of major corporations and a bustling arts scene contribute to its dynamic atmosphere. Duluth and Kennesaw add to the economic fabric with their mix of retail, manufacturing, and service industries. Marietta, which hosts its third Ugly Sweater Parade in December 2024, appears to have hit a property boom.
According to recent data, house prices have risen by 6.4 percent over the past year. The average home value in Marietta is around $478,086, part of a broader regional trend. Dobbins Air Reserve Base, located on the south side of town, and a Lockheed Martin manufacturing plant are key industries in Marietta. Roswell’s largest employers are the Kimberly Clark Corporation, Wellstar North Fulton Hospital, Harry’s Farmers Market, and the City Of Roswell. The high tech corridor is located between Roswell and Atlanta on a section of Route 400, housing firms like Kimberly Clark. Over the years, the 770 area code has witnessed significant events that have shaped its communities. Recent years have seen Atlanta in the spotlight for its role as a major transportation hub, with the expansion of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the development of the Atlanta BeltLine, which aims to revitalize urban spaces and connect neighborhoods.
