It is REAL!! Listen to the voice mail they leave you! They are not asking you to call the 1.800.830.8574 #back. I'm with a credit union. whenever I have a frequency of transactions or larger than usual amounts they call or block my card until they have heard from me. They are the fraud dept. they handle multiple accounts. They give you a Specific # to call for the sole purpose of you not having to answer uncomfortable questions. If you Just LISTEN to the message left for YOU. Call the # ALL THEY WILL ASK YOU IS THE # YOU RECEIVED THE MESSAGE ON &TO VERIFY YOUR FIRST&LAST NAME. They, at that point, will tell you the bank/company the questionable charges were made on. They will tell u the charges&dates you say yes or no. if they are yours the call is done. I also work at a bank that backs several credit cards. If you call the original card that called you yes you have to confirm more information. Why you ask? Because they don't know you just as you don't know them. You don't have to believe me but use the the card that the the questionable charges were made on. You will be the one that gets denied at the register or online until you call the bank or the bank that issues your credit card. Just listen to your message. At anytime the rule is if u ever feel uncomfortable call the number on your card & ask for the fraud dept.

Just verifying transactions made on debit/credit cards to protect you. It's legit.
(800) 830-8574
PayPal scam
(800) 830-8574
Sorry, this is not a spammer. It is Paypal checking to see if some transactions were legit.
(800) 830-8574
My dibit card had several out of state debits and my bank had Card Services call to simply verify that they were authorized. After My phone number and name matched and we agreed on the last 4 of the card, they gave me specific amounts from specific locations with the dates. All I had to do was verify that I had authorized these debits and they said they will remove the "hold" on my card. I did not know they put a hold on the card but would have found out later in the evening so I'm really glad I called. My bank also verified that this is a normal security alert to help protect against un-authorized use of my card.. Bill
(800) 830-8574
They check on your bank transactions
(800) 830-8574
Suspiciously asked me to call back and verify credit card info. This isn't how Paypal confirms charges. They did so with me just last weekend with a live operator.
(800) 830-8574
This is a VALID Number and call from PAYPAL verifying your transactions.
(800) 830-8574
I even spoke to a real person. These people do verifications of transactions for lots of companies / banks.
(800) 830-8574
(800) 830-8574
Not a scam..verified it through my bank. They are just making sure I authorized some debit card transactions..
(800) 830-8574
It's a scam, they called me as well and I don't have a card with them.
(800) 830-8574
Got an automated message (female voice) on my answering machine stating that they were calling from Paypal because of recent fraudulent activity on my mastercard. They asked that I call back at this number. I checked my email and paypal account. Nothing. Called paypal directly and they said that my account was in good standing and that there were no notes on my account that anybody from paypal had called me. It is a scam. DON'T CALL IT.
(800) 830-8574
This number is from Paypal Security. Call Paypal to vertify that this is correct at 888-215-5506 or the number on the back of your Paypal card. It's that simple. Though never trust an email claiming to be Paypal and needing you to vertify, they do not work like this DUE to scammers and thieves, rat turds as we refer to them as.
(800) 830-8574
The number is not a scam. You put in the last 4 numbers of the card you used. A computerized voice will read back the date and amount of the transaction and ask if you authorized it. If you say yes, the voice will thank you and end the call.
(800) 830-8574
You have got to be kidding me. You name and phone number are out there, if you've used them to make any kind of purchase on the internet. If your computer or the site's security has been compromised, your account numbers are also out there. No surprise, then, that someone can rattle off your last purchases to you. These people were not born yesterday. I spoke to a PayPal representative yesterday, calling the number they give on their website. They said that 800-830-8574 is not one of their numbers, and it is most especially not one of the numbers used by their Security Department. If you receive a phone call from this number, DO NOT RETURN THE CALL. Check your PayPal, bank accounts and credit cards for any irregular activity immediately, and follow up with a phone call to the phone number that appears on the back of your cards, or on the bank's website.Beware, people. If you got to this website by plugging the phone number into Google, so can the perpetrators of this scam. If you can post here, so can they. Something to consider...
(800) 830-8574
This is a VALID number, just confirming recent transactions. How do you think they know your transaction amounts? I hadn't used my card for a while, made almost $500 in transactions today, and just got the call. Took 1 minute to confirm the amounts of the the transactions I made. You people are overly paranoid. They never asked any private information. When you didn't respond, that's when you got the email from Paypal and your card got locked.
(800) 830-8574
go to www.donotcall.gov to stop this call
(800) 830-8574
I also had a automated message telling me to call PayPal about a Master Card charge. This WAS verified by PayPal as a VALID number to confirm a legitimate payment made the night before. If you have doubts, go through the PayPal web site to get the help number and follow the security option. The will give you the 800 number to call which is indeed the number in question. When I called that number it was to verify a purchase I made the night before.
(800) 830-8574
Received a call from this number said they wanted to verify recent paypal transactions... Called for a "representative" asked to "confirm phone number"which wasnt my number... I hung up.Most likely a phishing scheme.. BEWARE.
(800) 830-8574
OK, I was wrong, this IS a phishing/scam!! Today I rec'd an email from "paypal", telling me my account was disabled until I verify my card number. Their link, once highlighted, I could see would not bring me to the true PayPal site, there was yet another phone number = 800-337-3392.I reported all to the REAL Pay Pal. I hope these 800 #'s can be traced.Good luck to all!
(800) 830-8574
I forgot to mention, I did call back that number and verifed it was my purchase. Then in a few housr, the item in question, which had been pending, was released and approved. It's sad, that in these times we do have to be ulta careful, and unfortunately, we don't/can't trust legit calls trying to prevent scams.Too bad Pay Pal doesn't have anything on their webite when I logged in - if I were notified from there that there was a potential problem, I would trust it more.
(800) 830-8574
Received a message on the answering machine stating they were from Pay Pal Security, needing to verify my Debit Master Card used with Pay Pal, asking me to call back 24 hours a day to 800-830-8574. I checked here first... yep, it sounded false and it was. No info given, call not returned. I never give personal info over the phone.
(800) 830-8574
Hmm, interesting...I rec'd the call today from a real person, saying she was "pay pal security"... 800-830-8574 - not an automated call. She asked if I placed a recent order from a certain company. Since she mis-prononced the name, and I was driving, I couldn't "think", I said I'd have to check and get back to her. I took a different # from her 800-437-5681. She asked if I used my MasterCard, ending with ####. Since it was really a temporary card, a Pay Pal secure card, I figure if it is a scam, what can they do with a credit card # that expires right after use?I checked my PayPal online, that very item was the only one "pending", they did know which phone I had listed with them (with 4 phone #'s, it is hit or miss with me). I gotta say, I think it's legit, but will keep my eye on the account to be sure. It would be on Pay Pal to reimburse.I asked why was that one flagged, not the other 6-8 recent transactions. She couldn't say. That did bother me a bit.But I was NOT asked any other info, like SS#, address, etc.
(800) 830-8574
Yep me too, emailed me asking me to contact them @ 800-830-8574. Then I googled this same # & found all of these complaints. I thought it was some kind of scam & would not call them & the # they supplied me. this is a copy ot the email:You are receiving this email because PayPal Debit Card Security attempted to contact you at the home telephone number on your account to verify a transaction or transactions recently attempted using your PayPal Debit Card. Unfortunately, we were not able to reach you. a lady called my employers business, I answered the phone, she said she was from "wells fargo security" asked for the last four of my employers visa card number. i told them hew wasnt in, they gave me the 1-800 number. needless to say i was suspicious so i called our wells fargo we do business with every day, they said i was right not to give out any information. google them and you get "georgia trust bank" call the 1-800 # and you get card services asking for the last 4 of your visa number...they have a technological edge over us Phish, just be aware...only your local branch will call you, THEY dont need card verification, they already have it.
(800) 830-8574
I also today received a call from this number saying it was from Paypal to verify recent activity on my card . I was confused because the automated call left a message for "me" and they Paypal card I use is in my husbands name. This is a scam, and I'm so glad I googled it.
(800) 830-8574
recieved call in reference to wtc visa card belonging to my son, became suspicious because son has not lived at this address in some time. he googled the 800 number and came up with this web site.

I received a call telling me that the company was checking my bank card for possible fraudulent use. I was asked to verify my phone number. Then I was asked to input the last four digits of my card. I verified the phone, but not the card. I pushed buttons to try to speak to someone, but I kept receiving a message that said I should wait for a rep, but no one ever came on. Then I started getting weird sounds over the phone. Kind of mechanical sounds. I tried calling back, but never spoke to a person.

I was a little scared too - it turns out my bank (PNC) uses them as a third party fraud detection company.
(800) 830-8574
I got a voicemail from this number as well. The first thing I did was look up the number online. I then called my bank, since it had to do with my Visa checkcard. I told the person I spoke with that I got a call from an 800 number and was suspicious, so I called them directly. This is a legitimate number. They connected me with their fraud dept who wanted to verify the last 5 transactions I had made. They didn't ask for any information, since I was already talking to my bank.If anyone has any concerns, they should contact their bank or CC company and get connected that way.
(800) 830-8574
Took a call saying it was from Wells Fargo for my stepson, checking up on a recent Visa transaction. It was an automated female voice. I passed along the message and had him call Wells using the number on his credit card. Better safe than sorry.
(800) 830-8574
Absolutely legit. This was an odd call. No accounting for first name/middle initial/last name layout - the name John J. Johnson would have been read "J Johnson, John". My bank (Comerica) must use this company for verification. I had made online purchases or automatic payments and it gave the impression that I had been in 3 different states in the past week. As others said it only asked for the last 4 digits, which are often shown on credit card receipts anyway.
(800) 830-8574
This company is security for bank debit cards. They are legit and its a good thing too because there was fraud on my debit card and they caught it the same day!
(800) 830-8574
Sorry I meant "Card Services" for the Caller Company name.
(800) 830-8574
I called the number back, it was certainly not a scam, since they had my debit transaction history (including vendor description and date of purchase) from the past few days. This is information that only my bank or Visa would have. All they were asking was for me to confirm whether I made those purchases [press 1 for yes, 2 for no] and I identified each correctly. The only personal information I entered was the last four digits of my visa card number, which does not give potential "thieves" anything significant.FYI, they had called me about my PNC Bank Debit card. I'm just hoping that people would stop being so paranoid about this phone call. After reading this board, I was myself scared, especially after observing the high ratio of negative to positive comments. But chill out guys, the company's looking out for your financial well-being, not robbing you.
(800) 830-8574
I called the number back and they didn't ask for any of my card information. They asked me for my phone number and then read back my last 5 purchases to make sure they were all legit. I just got a new card last week (old one expired). This was a legit call.
(800) 830-8574
I called my bank and they did verify that this is their credit verification system. I called the number back and they didn't ask for any of my card information. They asked me for my phone number and then read back my last 10 purchases to make sure they were all legit. The reason I received this call is I purchased a $400 crib, a $200 changing table and a few other items online all with in a couple days. They just wanted to make sure it wasn't fraud.
(800) 830-8574
I got a call from these guys today. I think this is a legit service. I recently made a few rather large purchases, and they called me the next day to verify those transactions. The only info I gave them was the last 4 digits from my credit card, and verifyed my phone number that they auto-detected.I think it is a third party that does verification for other companies.
(800) 830-8574
I received a call today from this number. I answered and spoke to a lady on the other end who claimed to be with my banks security. They asked if my husband and I had recently purchased items from three different places in the past week and I told her that we had. She did not ask for any other information. I then looked it up online, got a little worried, and called my bank who then identified this number as being with them and called them their "falcon department"? A department who checks up on any questionable purchases made on your account. So I think for now that this number is legit.
(800) 830-8574
The call left a message and was from Wells Fargo. I called back and they wanted to verify transactions on my account. Good thing they called because there were a few unknown transactions, on my account which they blocked. They ask for the last 4 digits of your card number.
(800) 830-8574
Wells Fargo Credit Card Transaction Verification
(800) 830-8574
Didn't see the number that called me, but got 2 messages asking me to call this number back, saying they were the security dept. from my bank wanting to verify activity on my credit card. I recently started using it again (my card) after not using it for awhile so figured it was legit, but figured I'd check it out to make sure. Glad I did! I'll call my bank tomorrow and let them know about it.
(800) 830-8574
Got a call and they said my check card has suspicious activity. I called and the first thing they wanted was my check card. I called the bank directly and there was no suspicious activity.
(800) 830-8574
Received a message from unknown person claiming to be from Paypal regarding suspicious activity on my Credit Card. Was asked to call 800 830 8574 to verify my account. This is definitely a scam as Paypal would email and not call regarding any activity linked to my account.
(800) 830-8574
I received a call from this number this morning (Saturday), but did not answer it in time. I called the 800 number back and received an automated voice (male) that said my recent activities on my phone (cell phone) needed verification to ensure against potential fraud. They asked for my last four digits of the credit card. I did not enter these after four requests and they said they would transfer me to a security specialist or something like that. The phone eventually went dead and I never spoke to a person. This is very likely some kind of scam. The complaints about this number range from people using paypal, pnc bank, and phone companies. . . very suspicious.
(800) 830-8574
I received a call this afternoon from this number. I didn't give them any info and asked for their number to call back. This is the number they gave. When I called back, It was computer generated and wanted me to verify my phone. I hung up. I have heard of a scam where they will do anything to get the security number on your card.
(800) 830-8574
Keeps calling. ID blocked
(800) 830-8574
I received a voice mail -- a computer generated voice asking that I call back to discuss some recent transactions with my paypal debit card. Trouble is, I haven't used my paypal debit card in a very long time. I logged onto my paypal account to see if there were any account alerts (there were none)and also to see if this is the contact number for them (it's not). BEWARE of this number!!
(800) 830-8574
I received a call from this number. It was a computer generated voice. They left a message on the answering machine saying they were from the security dept. of my bank and that they were checking on recent debit transactions on my card. Trouble is, the phone number they called was not mine. It was that of a relative. And I know for a fact that my bank doesn't have that number listed under my account. Not only that, the relative doesn't even bank there! I AM SURE IT IS A SCAM! So I did not return their call.
