I received a call from a man identifying himself as Herb Downing. He demanded I give him my son's telephone number so that he could reach him. When I refused to hand out such information to someone I do not know, he became quite rude and said that in that case I should take his number and forward it to my son. When I asked what this was in reference to, he became belligerent in his attitude and said that he worked with various colleges and universities across the country and that he needed to reach my son. I said I would pass along the number, at which point he stated that since he now had a record of contact with a family member, my son was now required to call his office back by 12 noon the next day or further action would be taken on their part. My son did indeed call this number, but reached no one.

got a few calls from this number over the last few weeks trying to get a hold of a distant relative. When pushed to why he was calling, the person got very rude and told me to "stop interupting him". I assumed that it was some type of debt collection, but when he started to yell I hung up. I wish I had more information so that I could report them somewhere. BEWARE!!!

THIS IS A SCAM! They CLAIM they are from ACS student loans and that I had a loan of $3000, but now it is $4000 because of attorney fees, etc. Umm... what?! They knew my address, college, and identified themselves as being behalf the Federal Perkins Loan. He was very rude and demanded I pay $4000 immediately. He said that they were reporting this to the credit bureau's and that I was going to be arrested. When I asked to speak to a manager, he said, "Why are you trying to punish me?" He then yelled at me and hung up. I called the college I graduated from, and of course they said I have no outstanding loans. BEWARE!
