These fake cops are really jerks calling several times a month asking for money to "support" your local police officers. Scam artists to the max.

Have asked these scums pretending to be police officers to stop calling many, many times. A scam impersonating Police Officers...you'd think someone would do something about them!!???

Asking for money to maintain a memorial. They pretend to be police officers.

The Police Protective Fund deceptively uses the "GRAPHICS LAB" caller ID -- creating an impression the call is from a medical office, another type of graphics business, or a photo lab.  Once they get you to pick up the phone, they move in for the money.  They are not a local charity (at least not where I live), despite claims of representing local police.

Just called before 7pm EST on 8 January 2009

My caller ID indicates they call 3 -4 times per day. When I do receive their call at home & decline to make a contribution to some charity they call me within 2 weeks and solicit again. I believe they use an automatic dialing system. They called my home at least 30 times in 2008.

Fraud Police charity.

Being on the DNC list doesn't stop these calls.

got a call from 804-255-9092, I let the machine get it. Just heavy breathing for about a min then hang up.

I have had 12 phone calls from this outfit stating they were from the Police Protective Fun and are collect funds for fallen officers, Google the SOB's out of the 5.9 million dollars they have raised in the past year only $36.000 dollars have got to the officers. It's a SCAM!!!

Usual deal - they probably give pennies on the dollar to the cause and pocket a vastly larger share for themselves. Pretty stupid they keep calling people on the do not call list (yeah, they're not required to obey it as fundraisers, but still stupid). Even more stupid are people who give out money to some chucklehead who just called them! Just don't do it. Give to the charity of your choice directly, or better yet, just hook up with United Way or some reputable organization and tell these idiots to go pound salt.

I received a call requesting donations for the police protection fund and the caller ID showed 804 225-9092  Graphics Lab.  When I asked why the number was showing up on caller id as "Graphics Lab"...the caller stated that "they had a problem with the wrong name showing up on id's in my area."  I wasn't born last night so I told him not to call again!    Please don't give them any information or donations.

Just recieved a call from this number 804-225-9092. My phone ID concurs with other reports about origin of caller. They hung up on me when I answered the phone. They may percieve that a female reponse is an easier target...not in my household  GL solicitors.

I have been getting calls for solicitation for two years from this outfit.  They identify themselves as an organization collecting donations for police.  I have asked to be removed from the call list, to no avail.  Recently, a fellow rudely demanded that I let him finish his sales pitch because "how would I knew what they did if I wouldn't even listen". Yesterday afternoon, I recieved yet another call, and was in no mood to be interrupted in my home.  I called the Virginia State Police information, and was adviced to google the Commonwealth of Virginia, which led me to the Attorney Generals's office, where I left my name, phone number, e-mail & home address.  Bottom line: the State Police spokesman confirmed my suspicion that "THE POL PROTECT" calling from (804) 225-9092 is a FRAUD!!!!!!!

Someone from this number called and left me a message (by name!) asking that I call "Mrs. Player" back at 804 649 0761. I didn't...thanks for the warnings!

I wouldn't give anything to these people.They gave me a line that only 2.5% went to administrative expenses.When I checked them out on the web http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=8335he was telling me the truth about the 2.5% Administrative costs but failed to mention the 69.1% Fundraising Expenses.When I asked him to mail me some information about the organization, he hung up on me.As someone above mentioned, if they have no interest in getting my credit card information, how did they expect to get my money, if when I asked him to mail me something, he hung up?The thing is people, answer the call. Make them stay on the line for as long as you can. The longer you have them there, the fewer people they can call, the more they have to pay for long distance charges, and the less money they can make. If they can figure out that your going to give the a rough time, they'll hang up on you, and move on to the next person. If you keep asking them questions and have them give you answers, they'll think they've got a "live" one on the line and try to milk you. JUST DON'T GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION. THEY DON'T REALLY KNOW WHO YOU ARE OTHERWISE

Just an update to the call.  Did not speak to anyone, DAMN.

Called approximately 4:15 pm.  I attempted to answer, but the answering machine got it right before I picked up.  I said hello, but there was no one there.  No idea who this is or why they would call my house.    DON'T TRUST ANYONE!!!---(Sad to say.)

Caller claimed he was from 'The Police Protect' and wanted to send me an envelope which I would return to him with a donation. Caller ID showed 'the Pol Protect. I said 'no, thanks' and hung up. We occasionally get similar calls from alleged police/fire/handicapped organizations, but this is a first for this group.

Got a call from this number at 8:37pm and woke the baby - thanks. Anyway, the guy asks if he could get permission to send me information on how much I can donate to the "Police Protective Fund". I inquire about why I have to name an amount before any literature is sent and he gets huffy. Sorry, not interested, its a simple request, send me literature and I will look it over, I shouldn't have to offer a set amount to a LEGITIMATE organization to get their literature.Smells like a scam.

This number called my mother last week. She was suspicious and called me to have me track them down. The number is fake, it does not really exist. It's a caller ID spoof that has also been seen with the name "Graphics Lab" and "Pol Protect". Also comes in 434-225-9092 (notice only the area code is different). WSET13 (a fairly local (to me) ABC affiliate) has on their webpage some information about the scam. The number I'm posting here is what I recieved from them. My mother got 434 area code, same for the rest. Hers said "Pol Protect"

I received a call from this number on 10/16/07 at 12:43pm. A man asked for me by name and I asked who was calling (I have caller ID and it showed The Pol Protect and phone number). He said he was Robert from the police, and I cut him off at that and told him I was not interested and to not call my number again. He said OK sort of irritated. Will see I guess. I have gotten calls before for police donations and always refuse. It becomes irritating to keep getting calls most especially since my number is listed on the National DO NOT CALL list.

Repeated calls from this number.  I live in Henrico County (ajoins Richmond). We do NOT answer the phone when the calls come in.  Caller ID is a wonderful thing!
