I hung up on them
(805) 309-9580
We have begun receiving strange telephone calls from 805-309-9580. The calling party leaves messages which claim that the call is from a bank and which wants to offer us "free" $25 gift card. Yet, when we research the telephone number, we learned that many reverse directory data bases believe that this telephone number does not actually exist. However, 805-309 is the area code and prefix for THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA! We figure that it COULD be someone who has found a way to be able to "pretend" that they are placing a call from a phone other than their own. Our phones are all listed with the official government DO NOT CALL Registry. We do NOT recognize the names of any of the banks being referenced (which changes from call to call) - and have NEVER had any dealings with any of the banks being referenced. We felt that this all looks too suspicious to overlook. Besides reporting these calls to the official DO NOT CALL Registry, we ALSO reported the calls to the IDENTITY THEFT ASSISTANCE CENTER. We felt that there COULD be some innocent person out there who DOES own telephone number 805-309-9580 but who has NO idea that someone is using their telephone number to place calls about "free" $25 gift cards!
