This is Capital One collections. Collection agencies run on a dialer so the hang ups are probably because the dialer doesn't send it to a rep until you or your answering machine picks up. If they are calling you on your cell phone, tell them that they do not have permission to call you on your cell phone with the automatic dialer. You cannot stop them from calling you, but you can ensure that they will not call with automated messages. If they continue to call you on the dialer, legally you can sue them. Also, if you bill is past due and you set up a payment online, most systems do not update that information. If you made the payment online, tell the rep that calls you about the payment and they will enter it so you don't get phone calls anymore (for that due date anyways). You can also call in to them if you know it will be late and post date the payment so that it is the collection system and you won't be on the dialer. (FYI some student loans will call regardless of whether you have scheduled online or not)

I do not always answer my phone I let it go to voicemail because I have an infant at home and can't always get to it. When I have called the number back just to see what it is all about the first thing I am told to do is enter my credit card number. I am not going to do that and get scammed. I have called credit services before and and they always identify themselves and then ask for the last 4 of your social to confirm. I have always been told not to enter your number because someone is trying to get your card number. Also, I keep getting the same meesage from alot of different numbers not just this one.
