A full screen popped up on my windows PC . There was another light screen that popped up with it in the back. An automated woman said I had been locked out of my account because someone had gotten a hold of my I.P. adddress and had gone into a website that had a virus. the Trojan virus was indicated. The automated message told me not to shut down the screen or close it because that could lead to my info being stolen, especially sensitive info. There was this number that I searched that was on the screen. And the message said for me to call the support techs at this number. What surprised me is that when I dialed it, a man answered the call without me having to be put on hold. He asked me how he could help me and I explained to him everthng. He said he would help me to secure my account and remove any virus or malware I could have. He started telling me what to input on the screen. By that time I had googled that number and it wasn't coming out anywhere. I googled the microsoft customer support number and it was a different 800 number. I asked him if he worked for windows or microsoft and he said he worked for GLOBAL NEXT EXPERT, I BELIVE WAS THE NAME. I ASKED HIM WHAT HIS ADDRESS WAS AND HE GAVE IT TO ME BUT I WAS ONLY ABLE TO JOT DOWN NEW JERSEY. I TOLD HIM I WOULD HAVE TO LOOK UP HIS COMPANY AND PHONE NUMBER TO CONFIRM IT WAS A LEGITIMATE COMPANY SINCE IT WAS NOT WINDOWS OR MICROSOFT THAT APPARENTY PUT THAT POP UP. AND I WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE MICROSOFT OR CHROME THAT WOULD SEND ME A MESSAGE LIKE THAT SINCE THOSE ARE THE BROWSERS I USE. IT SEEMED STRANGE THAT WHEN THE POP UP SCREEN CAME OUT, IT HAD AN 800 NUMBER ON THE POP UP AND THE AUTOMATED RECORDING SAID TO CALL THAT NUMBER IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I CALLED THE NUMBER A MA ANSWERED. WHEN I TOLD HIM WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO (LOOK UP INFO ON THE 800 NUMBER HE HAD 0R THE COMPANY HE WORKED FOR, AND THAT I WOULD CALL HIM BACK, HE SAID IF I LEFT THE CALL AND CALLED BACK, THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO CHARGE ME. I ASKED HIM HOW MUCH? AND HE SAID $500! AT THAT POINT, I REALIZED, AT LEAST IN MY MIND, THAT IT WAS A SCAM COMPANY TRYING TO GET MY DATA BY ME FOLLOWING HIS INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT TO BE INPUTTING ON THE COMPUTER. WELL, I MANAGED TO LOG INTO MICROSOFT WITHOUYT ANY PROBLEMS, AND CHROME AS WELLL. SO APPARENTLY MY ACCOUNTS, NEITHER OF THEM, WERE LOCKED OUT. SO IN MY POINT OF VIEW, MY INTUITION TOGETHER WITH ALL THE LITTLE CIRMUMSTANTIAL CIRCUMSTANCES DURNG THE CALL, MADE ME FEELTHE COMPANY WASN'T LEGIT. BUT I CANNOT CONFIRM THAT BECAUSE I DIDN'T CALL BACK. AND IF I'M WRONG, I SEND A SINCERE APOLOGY TO HIM AND HIS COMPANY. BUT I HAVE BEEN SCANMED TWICE ALREADY. SO THAT HAS MADE ME VERY DUSTUSTFUL WHEN DOING THINGS ON THE INTERNET. SO IF ANY OF YOU HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO YOU WHERE A SCREEN POPS UP WITH A LIGHTER ONE IN THE BACKGROUND SAYING SOMEONE HAS GOTTEN HOLD OF YOUR I.P. ADDRESS, IF IT'S NOT A MESSAGE FROM GOOGLE, CHROME, MICROSOFT, OR WHATEVER BROWSER YOU'RE USING, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY. WHILE I CANNOT SAY WITH CERTAINTY. OVERALL, I WOULD SAY THERE'S LIKE A 65-70% CHANCE IT WAS A SCAM THAT I DIDN'T FALL INTO. BUT, AGAIN, I DID NOT CALL HIM BACK LIKE I SAID I WOULD. I WANTED TO TO FIGURE HIM OUT. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT HE WAS GOING TO TELL ME TO INPUT THE KEYS THAT ACCORDING TO HIM I NEEDED TO DO TO GET RID OF THIS TROJAN VIRUS AND MY PERSONAL INFO WOULD BE AT GREAT RISK. SO JUST BE CAREFUL IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS TO YOU ALL. I RECOMMEND YOU USE DIFFERENT DOMAINS AND WEBSITES TO FIND THE OWNER OR COMPANY OF THE PHONE NUMBER THEY TELL YOU TO CALL. AND IF YOU CAN FIND REVIEWS ON THE COMPANY, THAT WOULD BE GREAT AND WOULD PROBABLY GIVE YOU A PRETTY GOOD PICTURE IF THIS COMPANY IS LEGIT OR NOT.
