Same situation - letter with check that looks real for lottery winnings. Call agent Glenn Hawkins before proceeding. Definitely scam.
(902) 402-8976
This is a known lottery scam. Please report and provide letter and check to your financial institution. They will handle it properly. The check will come back as fraudulent if you try to cash or deposit it. If you do anything with the funds it will be a loss to you and/or the bank. Trust your instincts in that if you don't recall entering into a lottery, you did not.

I also received a letter with a check to pay taxes. I have not called to speak to Glen Hawkins yet. Trying to find out if it is a scam before I try to cash it. It does look real but don't know what will happen if I do cash it.

The checks are not from an account in the name of the listed management service nor the equitable account shown on the check, according to Wells Fargo. Glenn Hawkins has a very thick accent (hint). He wants you to cash the check quickly and call him immediately afterwards. At that time, he is likely to solicit you for either personal information or have you send him the "tax" money.
