I’m getting texts from someone named “Maria” who claims/seems to know me. She’s calling me by name. I haven’t spoken to a Maria since middle school/high school & I highly doubt it’s her (we weren’t really friends like that) and I do not give my number out. I have not texted back. I think it may be someone baiting me to respond for some reason (like to ***n my location) and I do not trust it. I think it’s extremely weird for someone to say “hey this is maria. Is this (insert my name)?” As if I gave her my number. Then text me a***n saying “do I have the right number? Is this not (insert my name)?” Without giving any context to who they are and why they’re contacting me, other than a very basic first name. My guess is that they expect everyone to know at least 1 Maria so they think they’ll get some responses.
