The su****ious phone number I got was ***-735-1647. I decided to google the *** and see if anyone talking about a scam, as my gut said so****ing was wrong. A recording that sounded like a TV show was playing when I answered. ***g up shortly after. I do not know anyone from this area and am guessing this is their new number. This call came in today. 11/25/09

i just received the same message today from a man claiming his name was jack anderson with the same threats, these people are annoying!!!!!

They just keep calling one call after another. That is so annoying. Glad I check these numbers out, cause they are calling my place of employment. They have been told that I no longer work here. Cause I have had other calls like this threatening me with being arrested and all sorts of stuff. What has the world come too with the way the economy is now people are trying to steal from hard working people. Hope they get caught and go to jail.

This is a club I would much rather not have become a member of! I have NEVER had a pay day loan. I did however fill out an application for one; I guess that's all it takes. Here's my story: I have gotten three very threatening and scary messages on my cell phone from an individual with a STRONG Middle Eastern accent. He knows my first and last name, my address, my place of employment, and lord knows what other personal information. The number that was recorded on my cell was (***)961-8518. I got the first call on Friday July 31st, the 2nd on Monday Aug. 3rd, and another this morning (Thursday August 6th). In addition, the same individual called my place of employment twice on Tuesday Aug. 4th. Due to the threatening nature of the messages, I was scared to return the calls. Instead, I contacted my local Police Department and they advised me not to return the calls. The caller identifies himself as Henry Smith and demands that I return the call. The call back number on the first two messages was 714-598-4240 and 415-200-0284 on the message left today. He states that it is an “urgent, time sensitive matter and that either I call back or have my attorney call back because he can not be responsible for what will happen next, and may God be with me and my child as the situation unfolds upon me if I choose to ignore the call.” In doing some on line research today, I learned that this is a total scam. These scammers attempt to extort money from consumers with a myriad of false and illegal threats, and alternately pose as debt collectors, federal and state law enforcement officers, lawyers, and bankers. This is a very active group of scammers, many of who are calling from India (and probably other countries) and are in cahoots with a group of American payday loan scammers. I have forwarded the details of the messages I recieved to the FBI, FTC, Secret Service, Oregon's Attorney General, and my local Police Department. So****ing has to be done to stop these crooks. Though I never spoke with anyone directly, or sent any money, until I found out it was a scam, I feared for both my daughter’s safety and mine!

Please spread this. It's important that people are educated on this scam as it has begun to become popular. This particular group began in 2007. The have used over a ***dred different phone numbers and at least a dozen different company/agency names. I will list a few below. They are from Asia Pacific and have never even stepped foot on American soil. However, they are terrorizing and scamming Americans out of their money. Even if you did have a payday loan and have not paid it back, they are not authorized to collect that debt. They claim that they work for/with Cashnet, however they do not. They have an inside source in which they paid for applicant's information that has been submitted for loans. So whether you applied for a loan and never got it, or if you applied and did get it, your information has been sold to these scam artists. DO NOT PAY THEM, and do not entertain them. Once they feel that they've scared you, they target you. If they conclude that they won't be getting any money from you, they drop you and move on to the next target. I hope this information helps. I've been investigating this group for quite some time now and thanks to these posts I'm able to continue tracking them. I've worked diligently to have them stopped, however I've only been able to get them to stop using the same phone numbers and company/agency names. Calls me saying that either myself or my lawyer should give him a call back, but when you call the number back is says its disconnected.

Wife got the same call, seem they like to pick on woman. I was outside *****ing and she put me on. I told him I had another payday loan to take care of, fired my ****gun and made groaning sounds. Then, I came back on and asked how I could help him. He said I owed for some loan, I told him to come on over to collect. For some reason I doubt he will.

I have received if you can believe this 6 calls at of all places my WORK Very embarassing! Each time they have called I have ***g up. The last time they called I decided to turn the tables onthem. I said I was with the HR Department that person does not work here anymore. They got very very andry and said well receptionist says this person works here. I explained to them ( heavy accent and all) that this is a business and I have traced their number and recorded the call. They had the nerve to say they were recording the call as well. I ***g up!!!

I just got a call from this person, same heavy accent called my phone 4 times in a row telling me I need to pay a loan.  WTH I never even took out a loan for what he is telling me.  Said that the police will come to my house and get me at  and i will go to prison if i do not pay.  i ***g up each time. Scary that he knows most of my personal info, address, etc.

Called about past due amount.  company says in good standing.  Disconnected number. Also same person very threatening.

It did happen to me too today May 21st,2009. A man with an accent like india or so,telling me that i owe them from pay-day loan with all my information but when i ask him questions he got angry and threating me and all he want is my debit card number if i don't cops will show up my door and file me a case.But he didn't get anything from me SORRY i know its a SCAMMER whos trying to get and SCAM people for the money.

I just s****ed receiving these calls yes****ay on May 15,2009 . I had no idea what they were talking about or who they were talking about. I told them to explain to me what was CASHNET or a payday advance and he said no I'm not explaining and didn't tell me anything about know bill that I owe becuz I told him(this is the man with the heavy supposed to be heavy accent but sounds fake to me) that I was contacting the police. I cant believe how they have my job number and cell number. these people are crazy. THE NEXT TIME THEY CALLED MY PHONE I AM GOING TO GIVE THEM A GOOD WORD. who are these people and how can they get our information?

mine is the same as everybody elses i went along to see what would happen and i said oh i cant pay that much today and he said hold on, he was gonna talk to his supervisor and wanted me to fax a letter saying i would pay, i said can you tell me the name of the company and he said he was an attorney for cash net, as i was talking to him i pulled up cash net on the computer its not even a payday loan place.Same indian guy with bad accent, same loud noises in the background, i did a reverse phone look up on the computer and it don't have a business name it just says it's in sarasota florida, they had my correct address and almost correct social and names of my relatives, how did they get the information then?

EVERYthing that everyone else has said here matches my calls -- a HEAVY Indian (from India) accent, threatening to take me to court, asking me for my "attorney of record" and lots of background noise (boiler room where I could hear lots of other "agents" screaming at other victims) -- I blocked all their numbers with Verizon Wireless, and my answering service also. HUGE scam, and I told them that I reported their number to my State Attorney General's office and FTC, and he got more intimidating and rude and threatening. So, now that I see everyone else's stories, I KNOW without a doubt that this is a scam. Also, don't call back any numbers that begin: 310-362-**** (the last 4 numbers are different) -- these are the same scammers. Good luck!

I received a call this morning at my work number saying that he was from a lawyer and they will be taking me to court for a payday loan that I never paid back. He said if I didn't pay today that someone will be at my door tomorrow morning, they scrary thing is he verified my Home Address, SS#, and bank account information. He said I can settle it out of court by paying 1000.00 if not the legal charges a***nst me is over 5000.00. And they threatened to report it to my job. Once I said I reported them to the police and the FTC the calls stopped.

I have received these calls for the last 2 days, saying I owe National Pay Day and say tomorrow they have 2 agents coming to pick me up take me to the judge and then to jail. They even said I was going to be fired from my job. SO I ask if they would like to talk with the GM and then ask for them to send this to me via mail. I was told I would have to pay 5,000 or go to jail because the judge would find me guilty. I ask about the due process of the law and they said they had emailed me the information. Complete joke! Don't take this kind of abuse. I was laughing at them for it sounded like a boiler room with tons of foreign people talking. Such a reputable law firm as they said they were.

continuosly getting calls from this number, heavy accent and a lot of static noise.  Says I defaaulted on some kind of loan. Another call from Shawn at same number this time said the police will be at my door in the morning, and this is my last warning.  That I will be behind bars for at least 10 months.  Gave a number to call back 310-362-9322 which is constantly busy. A man with a accent called from National Payday loans and said I defalted on the loan and said I owe $5***.14. He said he was from a law firm. He became nastly when I said I have never had a such a loan. He insisted and became angry, I said can I call the attorney generals office about this phone number that came up on the calller ID. He said just coperate and pay your unpaid bill. or the police will be at my door in morning for my arrest. I ***g up!!!!What a scam.

Called my home and left a threatening message "That If I did not call back, all he could do is wish me luck, as they will get me"  A***n heavy accent male said his name was shawn, gave a 310-362-4319 number which is constantly busy.

Called employment, asked for me. When asked who was calling, heavy accent male said it was law office.

Same thing. No message left for me and when I called back it was a verizon wireless number that had been c****ed or disconnected... how do they have my info??

Man with heavy accent stated that they were going to put a case a***nst me. He would not give his name or number and was very rude. Said sao****ing about an internet loan. He sounded like the man from B.I.G. which is a pay day loan.

I got a call from this same number and it was a man with a heavy accent claiming to be Jack Smith and said I owed $800.00 from an internet payday loan from CashNet.  When I pressed him for details, he become very rude and s****ed threatening me.  I contacted the authorities and know now that this is just a big scam and I hope they catch these people and lock them up and throw away the key.  DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE MONEY!!  They use different phone numbers (714-333-2952)and different names but these are all the same people running scams trying to scare you into giving them money.

Same thing here - i got the call on my cell and when you try to call back - it says the voice mail is over its limited - has to be a scame - getting really tried of this..

They do not leave a message and when you call them back it says it is a disconnected number. Try a***n LOL right. I believe it is a scam and I am not wasting my cellphone time on it.
